Haiti’s Horrible Earthquake

Haiti has been struck by a massive 6.1 earthquake with a magnitude of 7 on January 12, 2010. Haiti is the poorest and least developed of all countries. The country is the size of Maryland. It’s located on Hispaniola, a Caribbean island. The capitol is Port-Au-Prince. The earthquake killed about 200,000 people. It left 250,000 injured and 1.5 million homeless. At 2 A.M. our time a small earthquake, known as an aftershock, shook the ground. People are singing to cheer each other up and sleeping in the streets. People are saying, “This wasn’t the big one.” Haiti is now even more dangerous because of the gangs and violence going on to fight for money. The U.S. is sending aid in many different forms. Please help Haiti. They definitely need it.
